In this writing class, students will be given the chance to develop their understanding of argumentative and opinion writing and will be given the opportunity to write these types of essays on a variety of topics of their choice. While some time will be spent on grammar and punctuation, we will focus on effective organization of ideas, diction, and evaluation of supporting evidence, as these are the pillars of strong persuasive writing. We will also explore essays by authors from a variety of cultural perspectives in order to broaden students’ sensitivity and understanding of diverse others.
As part of the course, students will also receive one-on-one feedback on their work.
