In this class, we will cover all important elements of the study of Language Arts: reading, comprehension, vocabulary development, spelling, and writing. Students will enjoy listening to a classic literature piece and writing responses as they engage in reading comprehension exercises. Vocabulary will be developed as we write and discuss how we can use more interesting words than perhaps the first one that came to mind. Spelling will be partly based on words students find difficult in their writing, thus creating a tailored list just for them. Each day will end with a creative writing lesson, with dedicated time to the writing process and the incorporation of all we learned earlier in the day. This is the perfect class for the enthusiastic reader and writer, or perhaps the student who needs a little extra encouragement in these areas!
